The function of automobile camshaft position sensor
1. The function of the camshaft position sensor is to collect the camshaft moving angle signal and input it into the electronic control unit (ECU) to determine the ignition time and fuel injection time, so it has both air intake and exhaust;
2. To carry out sequential injection control, ignition timing control and knock control. In addition, the camshaft position signal is used to identify the first ignition moment when starting the engine. Because the camshaft position sensor can identify which cylinder piston is about to reach top dead center, it is called a cylinder identification sensor;
3. The structure and working principle of the camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor are basically the same, and they are usually installed together. The only difference is that the installation position of each vehicle model is different, but it must be installed at a position that has a precise transmission relationship with the crankshaft, such as the crankshaft, camshaft , flywheel or distributor;

4. The ECU of the EFI system that only uses the crankshaft sensor has a special ignition distinction program to distinguish the cylinder ignition sequence. It is different from the method of using two sensors. The popular point is "counting". The crankshaft rotates at a fixed number. Run "1-3-4-2" in it. So the program can distinguish between different firing cylinders at the same crankshaft angle by "counting", so a single sensor is enough.
The camshaft position sensor is also called the cylinder identification sensor. In order to distinguish it from the crankshaft position sensor (CPS), the camshaft position sensor is generally represented by CIS. The function of the camshaft position sensor is to collect the position signal of the valve camshaft and input it into the ECU so that the ECU can identify the compression top dead center of cylinder 1 to perform sequential injection control, ignition timing control and knock control. In addition, the camshaft position signal is used to identify the first ignition moment when starting the engine. Because the camshaft position sensor can identify which cylinder piston is about to reach top dead center, it is called a cylinder identification sensor.
